Marts Eduards Ivaskis is an associate researcher at the Latvian Institute of Foreign Affairs, and a lawyer at the Department of European Affairs at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia. Marts Eduards Ivaskis has also gained working experience at the Cabinet of Advocate-General Laila Medina at the Court of Justice of the European Union, and at the lobbying-law firm Alber & Geiger. In 2022, Marts Ivaskis received a Bachelor's degree in European Law at Maastricht University, while in 2023, he continued his studies in Maastricht, and received a Master's degree in European law. Marts' interests include EU and Member State elections, the development of the law on four freedoms, the EU sanctions regime, EU institutional law and policy, as well as the protection of fundamental rights and strengthening of the rule of law.
