The First Round Enlargements– Implications for Baltic Security. Riga: University of Latvia, 1998.
This research project carried out in 1997 was the continuation of the two previous projects. The focus, however is devoted to the main aspect of the Baltic states in 1997– to integration in the EU and NATO, as well to the issue of how successful are the integration processes to East and West of the Baltic states and their impact on Baltic security. Special attention is given to cooperation of the Baltic Sea region states, as well as to Baltic states’ cooperation with the Central European countries. As in the previous projects, a separate chapter is dedicated to political processes in Russia and their influence on the Baltic states.
